Chuck Cassy - Ventura Downtown Lions Club, 4-A3
Lion Chuck has been practicing law in Ventura, CA since 1978. With James M Farley, they formed a partnership in 1981, which continues today. Lion Chuck began his community service in the Springfield Jaycees. He joined the Ventura Downtown Lions when asked by Dan Clower. Chuck served as the 83rd President of the Ventura Downtown Lions Club and is currently the Zone 6 Chairperson. (BACK)
Don Cornett, PDG - Hillcrest Lions Club, 4-A2
PDG Cornett served as 4-A2 District Governor in 1992-93, and as the chairperson for MD-4 Convention in San Diego 99. Lion Don has served his Hillcrest Lions Club as Secretary/Treasurer for 32 years, has served as Zone Chairman, Flag Day Chairperson, Budget & Finance and several MD-4 committees, including Leo Clubs.
Don and his wife Shirley (married 48 years) have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. He is retired school administrator from Kern High School District and is a devoted, enthusiastic Lion. (BACK)
Linda Dovalis - Reno Plumb Lions Club, 4-L2
Linda has been a Lions since 1987. She is a 100% past president, a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, was named Outstanding Zone Chairman of the Year by PDG/PCC Bill Crawford, Lion of the Year of her Club 5 times, and served as chairman of several Region and District committees. Linda is Director of Building and Planning for the City of Maywood, CA, where she has worked for 18 years. She and Rod have been married for 41 years, have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. Ron Hurd - Carpinteria Lions Club, 4-A3
Ron joined the Carpinteria Lions Club in 1986 after being asked to be a guest speaker at one of their weekly meetings. He served as President with Excellence in 2000-01 and currently publishes the club bulletin. In addition he has served as first, second, and third vice-president, as treasurer and chaired a number of club activities. He has served as Zone 5 chairman and recently obtained his first Long tail award. Ron has twice received the District Governor's Appreciation Award, the Carpinteria Lions Peace Officers of the Year Award and was Club Lion of the Year. He has attended a number of MD-4 and 4-A3 Conventions as a club delegate, the Senior Lions Training Institute, and the USA / Canada Forum.
Ron has resided in Carpinteria since 1957 and is recently retired from 32 years of service with the County of Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department at the rank of lieutenant. He is the product of local schools and is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in Law & Society.
Ron and his wife Jennifer have been married for 34 years and have two grown children, Elissa and Jason. Jason, Ron, and Ron's father Walter are all active members of the Carpinteria Lions. Ron enjoys gardening, baseball, golf, and is in the process of writing the definitive American novel. (BACK)
Capp Loughboro, PDG - Ventura Breakfast Lions Club, 4-A3
Capp was Co-Founder of Western Lions Ear Foundation, is a LIFE MEMBER OF WLEF, recipient of The Dr. Howard House Fellowship, and currently Secretary-Treasurer of WLEF. He is a native of California, joined the Ventura Downtown Lions Club in 1956, later transferring to Ventura Breakfast Lions Club, where he has served as 100% Secretary/Treasurer for 26 years. He was District Governor (1992-93); has more than 44 years of perfect attendance. He has been honored with 3 Melvin Jones Fellowships, 2 Int’l Presidential citations of appreciation, Lion of the Year for his Club, Life Member of Lions Int’l, Life Member of Canine Companions, and holds 3 Club Extension awards. He has also earned his Senior Master Key Award by bringing 30 new members into Lions.
Lion Capp started his own electronics firm in 1953; it has grown to include CATV, satellite, microwave, data and fiber optics engineering, design and construction for major TV studios and networks along with motion picture studios and industrial plants. His company engineered and televised the landing of the first space shuttle, the 1984 Olympics, and 1994 World Cup Soccer. He and Dolly, his wife of 49 years, have 2 children, 2 grandchildren, and l great grandchild. (BACK)

Gary is a LIFE MEMBER OF WLEF. He has 33 years of perfect attendance in Lions, joining Upland Host Lions Club in 1966; has been Club President 4 times in various clubs (100% President 3 times); Zone Chairman of the Year 2 times; Extension Chairman starting 3 new clubs; Melvin Jones Fellow; Life Member of Lions Int’l; Life Member of Lions Eye Foundation of Calif-Nev.; Life Member of Canine Companions; has served all positions at the club level. Ralph Penning, PDG - Fairfield Host Lions Club, 4-C2
Ralph is the Immediate Past President of the Western Lions Ear Foundation. He joined
the Fairfield (Calif.) Lions Club in 1979; has served as chairman of numerous
committees, served as Secretary and several offices, was 100% President
(1985-86), also receiving membership growth award. For his efforts in
sponsoring a Cochlear ear implant for a 5 year old child by requesting
financial aid from Lions and Lionesses of District 4-C7 and for his
leadership in establishing the Lions Quest program in Fairfield, Ralph was
awarded the International President's Certificate of Appreciation. At District level, Ralph has been Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, 100% District Governor (4-C7, 1992-93), plus District Governors Excellence Award. He has a Train the
Trainer Certificate; Life Member of the Lions Eye Foundation; Melvin Jones
Fellow; and Helen Keller Fellow. Ralph chose to make the Air Force his
career, serving 27 years of active duty, retiring in 1978 with the rank of
Chief Master Sergeant. While in the military he earned a BS degree in
Education from Southern Illinois University. After retiring from the Air
Force, he owned and operated a personnel agency for 12 years. Ralph and
Phyllis, his wife of 46 years, have 2 married children, 5 grandchildren and 1

Larry Prince, PDG - Meiners Oaks Lions Club, 4-A3
Larry has been District Governor of 4-A3 (1997-98). He has served as Club President (2 times), 100% Club Secretary (2 times), Zone and Region Chairman. He was born in Kansas, served in the U.S. Navy during WW-II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill, which was decorated with a Presidential Unit Citation, he also received 2 Bronze Stars. He married Marge and settled in Kansas, where their 2 children were born, was elected Sheriff of Barton County, Kansas for 2 terms. The family moved to Ojai, CA in 1957, where he served as a deputy sheriff. He and Marge served in the Methodist Church, the Ojai schools, and Scouts. He worked as a salesman for 3 different companies, retiring in 1988. Larry has been with Lions for 13 years, was a Lion in Kansas, then with the Ojai Club, now with the Meiners Oaks Club. (BACK)
